The Finnish Reading Center

The Finnish Reading Center is a well established NGO, with the purpose of promoting reading, literacy and literature. We produce materials, information and reports on literacy, both in Finland and globally. We produce services and expertise for schools, libraries, the general public, media and policy-makers. We also arrange author visits in schools, libraries and other facilities.

The Finnish Reading Center is also responsible for major national reading and literacy campaigns such as Read Aloud, A Book Bag For Every Baby, and Reading Week. We work with close co-operation with schools, libraries, government and other organisations. We are also an active member of European reading and literacy networks, such as EURead and ELINET.

The Finnish Reading Center was founded in 1972.
