International networks

The Finnish Reading Center is an active member of international reading and literacy networks, such as EURead and Global Network for Early Years Bookgifting.

Working in international networks is important for the Finnish Reading Center for knowledge exchange, learning and global understanding. Similarly, Finnish literacy work and reading promotion have long been an interest to an international audience.

EURead

EURead is a network of 34 organisations from 25 European countries, who believe that reading is the key for full participation in today’s media-led society. The network meets regularly to exchange knowledge, experiences and concepts and to jointly raise awareness of the fact that a strong structural framework for reading promotion on a national and European level is absolutely vital.

Global Network for Early Years Bookgifting

The Finnish Reading Center is a member of a global network of early years bookgifting programs providing free books and reading guidance to promote shared reading. Bookgifting has been proven to be the most impactful and cost-effective tool for supporting early language development. The network recognizes the value of sharing experience as peers – to foster innovation, excellence and resilience.

The goal of the network is to strengthen existing programs and support new and emerging programs. This is done through online theme-based meetings and by sharing research and resources. The Network is a global advocate for shared reading in the early years, and for every child’s right to read.
